LIFE COACHING is a solution-focused, one-on-one, collaborative process in which Children and Family Wellness Center will coach and help parents navigate their parental journey, by supporting the client with achieving personal, relationship, or professional goals. Clients can receive help to handle their emotions in productive ways, and it is beneficial for those who need a professional counselor to walk them through their problems as they occur.
Better Family Foundation uses a number of tools, techniques, and processes designed to help the clients find what Parent goals drive them, where they want the relationship to go, and the best way to get there. By keeping clients focused and challenged, the Counselor will:
▸ ENABLE
Clients to learn to identify their own defense mechanisms (the stories they tell to defend themselves).
▸ EMPOWER
Clients to disassociate from the “can’t” mind-set.
▸ MOTIVATE
Clients to work towards and look forward to achieving new goals.
▸ ASSIST
Clients in creating empowering visions and beliefs.
Both the Life Coach and the clients work towards breakthrough solutions and achieving the chosen goals through these CORE CONCEPTS:
▸ MINDFULNESS is the awareness that emerges through paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally to things as they are. This means paying attention to things deciphering what are really in any given moment not what we want them to be.
▸ EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE is comprised of self-regulation, self-awareness, motivation, empathy, and social skills. Its focus is to teach clients to manage their emotions, develop healthy relationships, and make good decisions for academic, personal, and career success; namely, strengthen families emotional intelligence.
▸ GRATITUDE will help clients recognize the goodness in our lives. The client makes this a habit, attitude, emotion, personality trait, and coping mechanism.
▸ POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY spends much of its time thinking about topics like character strengths, optimism, life satisfaction, happiness, well-being, gratitude, compassion (as well as self-compassion), self-esteem and self-confidence, hope, and elevation.
